Arvind Trivedi was an actor and politician who was primarily associated with Gujarati as well as Hindi cinema. During his acting career that spanned over three decades, he acted in over 300 films in both Hindi and Gujarati cinema of which his role as Dadaji in the Gujarati film Desh Re Joya Dada Pardesh Joya, is considered to be one of the most memorable performances. Besides the big screen, he also is remembered for his performance as Raavan in Ramanand Sagar’s epic mythological TV drama series ‘Ramayan’ in 1987. He also dabbled with politics when he was elected as a Member of Parliament from 1991 to 1996 for the Bharatiya Janata Party. He also served as an acting chairman for the Central Board for Film Certification from 2002 to 2003.
