An Indian actress, singer, music director, producer and lyricist, P. Bhanumati Ramakrishna is widely known as the first female superstar of Telugu cinema. She has acted in around 100 Telugu and Tamil movies, as well as some Hindi films. In 2001, she was honored with Padma Bhushan by the Government of India. She made her debut in Telugu cinema in C. Pullaiah’s 1939 film Vikrayam. In Bollywood, she made her debut with the 1949 film Nishaan, and has also acted in movies like Mangla (1951), Rani (1952), Chandirani (1953), Nai Roshni (1967), etc.
