Chalapathi Rao was a well-known actor and producer who was known for comedy and villainous roles in Telugu cinema. Born in 1944 in Andhra Pradesh, he made his acting debut in the Telugu film Gudachari 116 in 1966 and thereafter went on to act in more than 600 films of which some of his well-known films were Yamagola, Yugapurushudu, Justice Chaudhary, Bobbili Puli, Ninne Pelladata, Manam, Allari, Drushyam, Sarrainodu, etc. Some of his Telugu productions have been Kadapareddamma, Jagannatakam, Pellante Nurella Panta, Presidentigari Alludu, etc. His only Hindi film appearance was in the Amitabh Bachchan starrer Sooryavansham in 1999 where played a police commissioner. He breathed his last at the age of 78 at his residence in Hyderabad.
