Daya Dongre was a Marathi and Hindi film and television actress who started her career as a classical dancer and singer but soon switched to one-act play competitions during her college days when she joined Purushottam Karandak’s theatre group. To pursue her acting she attended the National School of Drama in Delhi before getting her big break in ‘Umbartha’ in 1982. She appeared in popular Marathi movies which include, ‘Char Divas Sasuche’, ‘Lalchi’, ‘Navri Mile Navryala’, ‘Khatyal Sasu Nathal Soon’, among more. She also appeared in many Marathi serials and a few Hindi movies such as, ‘Daulat ki Jung’, ‘Aashray’, ‘Naamcheen’, and more. She passed away at the age of 85 in Mumbai.
