Son of filmmaker Sashadhar Mukherjee and a member of cinematic Mukherjee-Samarth family, Joy Mukherjee was an Indian actor and director. He was considered the ‘heartthrob of Bollywood’ in 1960s and 1970s. The actor started his career in Bollywood with the 1960 film Love in Simla, alongside Sadhana. Other important movies of his career include Ek Musafir Ek Hasina (1962), Love in Tokyo (1966), Ek Kali Muskayee (1968), Moojrim (1970), Haiwan (1977), etc. Joy Mukherjee’s mother, Sati Rani Mukherjee was the sister of Ganguly brothers - Ashok, Anoop and Kishore Kumar. He was married to Neelam Mukherjee, with whom he had 3 children.
