Kalyan Chatterjee was an actor who primarily acted in Bengali and Hindi cinema. Born in 1942, Berhampore, West Bengal Province, he made his acting debut in Tapan Sinha’s ‘Apanjan’ in 1968 and Satyajit Ray's ‘Pratidwandi’ in 1970. He later went on to act in more than 400 films, mostly in supporting roles which include ‘Dhanyee Meye’, ‘Dui Prithibi’, ‘Sabuj Dwiper Raja’ and ‘Baishe Srabon’. He also worked in Hindi cinema, including movies such as ‘Sagina’ (1974), ‘Safed Haathi’ (1978), ‘Aadmi Aur Aurat’ (1984), ‘Paar’ (1984), ‘Kahan Kahan Se Guzar Gaya’ (1986), ‘Antarjali Jatra’ (1987), ‘Bada Din’ (1998), ‘Chittagong’ (2012), ‘Kahaani’ (2012), ‘22 Yards’ (2018) and others. He breathed his last on 07 December 2025.
