Munawar Sultana was a popular Bollywood actress of the 1940s and early 1950s. She started her acting career in Bollywood with the 1941 blockbuster film Khazanchi, directed by Moti B. Gidwani. She gained popularity with the films like Pehli Nazar (1945), Dard (1947), Elaan (1947), Kaneez (1947), Meri Kahani (1948) and Babul (1950). She was married to Sharif Ali Bhagat, a businessman, and the couple had four sons and three daughters. After the death of her husband in 1966, Munawar completely devoted herself to raising the family and gave up on her acting career.
