Wife of famous filmmaker K. Asif, Nigar Sultana was one of Bollywood’s better-known actresses who was best known for her role as Bahar Begum in her husband’s epic period drama Mughal-e-Azam (1960). She made her acting debut in Bollywood with the 1946 film Rangbhoomi. The first film to give her recognition was Raj Kapoor’s Aag (1948). Other notable works of her career are Patanga (1949), Sheesh Mahal (1950), Khel (1950), Daman (1951), Mirza Ghalib (1954), Durgesh Nandini (1956) and Yahudi (1958).
