Sapan Sengupta was a popular playback singer and composer for Hindi, Punjabi, Bengali and Bhojpuri films. He was the other half of the famous musical duo of Sapan – Jagmohan. Sapan Sengupta along with Jagmohan Bakshi were popular music composers of 60s and 70s who initially were singers who sang for Salil Chowdhury's Bombay Youth Choir. The duo later formed their own pair and started composing songs in 1961 and provided music for movies like Aayega Aanewal (1967), Gustakhi Maaf (1969), Insaf Ka Mandir (1969), Chetna (1970), Do Gaz Zameen Ke Neeche (1972), Call Girl (1974), Abhi To Jee Lein (1977), and Darwaza (1978), etc. Sapan breathed his last on 15 October 2022 due to age-related health issues.
