Singeetham Srinivasa Rao is a renowned Indian filmmaker, screenwriter, producer, composer, and actor, widely regarded as one of the most innovative and versatile directors in Indian cinema. Throughout his illustrious career, he has directed nearly sixty films in Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Hindi, and English, showcasing his mastery across diverse genres and storytelling styles. He began his film career as an assistant to the legendary K. V. Reddy, working on timeless classics such as Mayabazar (1957) and Jagadeka Veeruni Katha (1961). Making his directorial debut with the Telugu film Neethi Nijayithi (1972), Rao went on to deliver several landmark films, including Pushpaka Vimana (1987), Aditya 369 (1991), Brundavanam (1992), Magalir Mattum (1994), Bhairava Dweepam (1994), Madam (1994), and Son of Aladdin (2003). His Hindi filmography as a director includes Phool (1993), Little John (2001), Mumbai Xpress (2005), and the animated fantasy Ghatothkach (2008), further highlighting his remarkable range as a filmmaker.
