Suresh Jindal was a producer, director and actor who worked primarily in Bollywood. Born in 1942 in Malerkotla, he was known as an independent producer who was responsible for India’s new wave cinema which began by producing Basu Chatterjee’s Rajnigandha in 1974 under his ‘New Wave Films’ banner. He thereafter produced Shatranj Ke Khilari (1977), Gandhi (1982), Katha (1983), etc., and also acted in Train To Pakistan (1998). He breathed his last on 24 November 2022 at the age of 80.
