Vatsala Deshmukh was an actress who primarily worked in Marathi as well as Hindi cinema. Born in 1930, she started her career as a model and later joined films. She made her screen debut in director Prabhat Kumar’s Toofan Aur Deeya in 1956 and later appeared in Hindi films like Navrang (1959), Jal Bin Machhli Nritya Bin Bijli (1971), Pinjra (1972), Suhaag (1979), and Jhanjhaar (1987). She was the elder sister of actress Sandhya Shantaram (a.k.a. Vijaya Deshmukh), who was married to renowned Bollywood director V. Shantaram while her daughter was actress Ranjana Deshmukh. She died at the age of 92 on 12 March 2022, due to age-related issues.
