Amiri Garibi is a family drama. The movie follows the story of a young woman named Rani (Poonam Dhillon), who comes from a poor family. She gets married to Rajesh (Raj Babbar), son of her father’s friend, Kedarnath. When she moves to her in-laws, she receives the cold welcome, and is mistreated and humiliated on every occasion. Things get worse after the death of Kedarnath. Now Kedarnath’s wife is all set to throw Rani out and get Rajesh remarried to Sona (Rekha), a rich girl who will bring a huge dowry with her. Is everything as simple as it seems, or Sona has plans of her own that none is aware of?
