A remake of Jon Favreau's Hollywood movie Chef, Chef has Roshan Kalra (Saif Ali Khan) who works as a chef in New York in a three-star Michelin loses his job because of punching a customer, decides to spend time with his son, who lives with his ex-wife back home in Kerala. While his visit he gets an idea of starting a 'meals on wheels' which he then begins to pursue and decides to stay back as he gets back his wife and son into his life.
