Daayra is a gripping crime thriller which begins when Ragini (Pragati Mishra), a young woman, mysteriously disappears from a highway. Her mother Parvati (Kshitee Jog) and brother Kabir (Bhavesh Babbani) approach the police, but their concerns are initially dismissed. The following day, Ragini’s charred body is discovered on a deserted stretch, turning the case into a major media sensation and putting the Teerthana police under intense pressure. DCP Raman Kumar (Prithviraj Sukumaran) is tasked with bringing the perpetrators to justice. Within days, he and his team arrest four suspects. However, before they can be presented in court, all four are killed in a police encounter. The police claim that the accused attempted to escape and opened fire, forcing them to retaliate. While many celebrate the deaths, others question whether the encounter was staged. Amid mounting pressure from the Human Rights Department, DCP Ajooni Kohli (Kareena Kapoor Khan) of the Internal Vigilance Unit is appointed to lead an SIT investigation. Known for her uncompromising and impartial approach, Ajooni travels to Suryapur to uncover the truth. As she investigates the encounter, she must determine what really happened—and whether Raman and his team are responsible. What follows forms the rest of the film.
