Fear, secret, deceit and revenge are the words that describe this spooky thriller drama titled Durgamati. A remake of the 2018 Telugu drama Bhaagamathie, Durgamati revolves around IAS officer Chanchal Chauhan (Bhumi Pednekar) who is suspended and jailed for the killing of Shakti (Karan Kapadia), a local and vanishing of 12 idols from the ancient local temples. CBI officer Nidhi Verma (Mahie Gill) is called in to get to the root of the mystery of the stolen idols and murder of Shakti which has a connection to the ancient Durgamati mansion involving Ishwar Prasad (Arshad Warsi) who is a powerful local politician and has the full support of the people. To solve the mystery, Nidhi gets Chanchal to live in the ancient Durgamati mansion where the ghost of Durgamati takes over the latter’s body and promises to swear revenge on everyone who has wronged her.
