Filmistaan is a comedy-drama that revolves around Sukhwinder ‘Sunny’ Arora (Sharib Hashmi), an assistant director who works in Mumbai. Sunny wants to be an actor, but he is thrown out of every audition. He goes with an American crew to a remote area in Rajasthan to work on a documentary. However, as they were filming near the India-Pakistan border, the crew encountered a number of problems and a terrorist group accidentally kidnaps Sunny and holds him hostage to later exchange him in the release of one of their men’s who is captured by Indian security forces.
