Ghoomer is a sports biopic that is loosely based on the true-life story of a late athlete who suffered a catastrophic hand injury and went on to win two Olympic gold medals. The story is that of Anina (Saiyami Kher), a cricketer who aspires of securing a spot in the Indian National Women's Cricket team. Anina finds herself selected for the tournament but just before leaving for the tournament, she meets with an accident and loses her right arm. Having lost all hope to ever play cricket again for India and get suicidal thoughts, one day Padam Singh Sodhi aka Paddy sir (Abhishek Bachchan), a failed, frustrated and alcoholic former cricketer comes knocking at her door. Paddy inspired her to pick up the game once again and grab the second chance that life is giving her. Paddy coaches Anina to become a lethal left-arm bowler and make it to the Indian team.
