Girlfriend is a romantic drama. The movie revolves around two friends Sapna (Amrita Arora) and Tanya (Isha Koppikar). The two are more than just friends, though Sapna just considered Tanya as her friend, Tanya has strong feelings for Sapna and is possessive about her. Things take a turn when a boy named Rahul (Ashish Chaudhary) comes into the life of Sapna, and the two fall in love. Tanya grows too insecure when Rahul and Sapna decide to get married.
