Maalik is an action gangster drama set in the feudal Allahabad of the late 1980s of Uttar Pradesh, where Deepak (Rajkummar), the son of a farm worker (Rajendra Gupta), rises from the dusty bylanes of Allahabad to become a feared gangster who rebels against the landlords to be called ‘Maalik' by the locals. Using Deepak and his men are politicians Shankar Singh aka Dadda (Saurabh Shukla) and his acquaintance MLA Balhar Singh (Swanand Kirkire), who adopt the former to maintain the balance of power. Things get heated when Maalik kills a cop for stopping his trucks at a checkpoint. With no other option left, a new SP of Allahabad, Prabhu Das (Prosenjit Chatterjee), is brought in and assigned the task to curb Deepak's rising power. Thus, beginning a cat and mouse game that leads to a bloody ending.
