Pad Man is a biopic based on a short story titled ‘The Sanitary Man of Sacred Land’ from the novel The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad written by Twinkle Khanna. The movie is based on the real-life events of Arunachalam Muruganatham, a Tamil Nadu-based social activist who revolutionized the concept of menstrual hygiene among women in rural India by creating a low-cost sanitary napkins machine. Lakshmikant Chauhan (Akshay Kumar) is married to Gayatri (Radhika Apte) when he discovers how the woman folk in his village desperately need sanitary pads to maintain menstrual hygiene.
