Panipat is an epic historical period drama set in 1761, which witnessed one of the most fierce and bloody battles fought in the history of India when the Maratha Empire had reached its peak of dominance and reigned supreme with no-one to challenge their might and power. It all changed when Ahmad Shah Abdali (Sanjay Dutt), the King of Afghanistan planned to invade India and set his eyes to conquer the throne of India. That is when the Commander-in-Chief of the Maratha army Sadashiv Rao Bhau (Arjun Kapoor), led a northern expedition in order to repel the invading forces of the King of Afghanistan.
