Phule is a compelling biopic tale of Mahatma Jyotirao Phule and his wife Savitribai Phule, two visionary reformers who broke with convention as a husband and wife in a time when child marriage was common and girls were not allowed to receive an education. They became social change pioneers by educating the wife rather than giving in to convention. Together, they started campaigns to support the rights of the poor and fought for widows' rights, the rights of the oppressed, and girls' education in an effort to improve society.
