Pooja Meri Jaan follows the story of Pooja Dogra (Mrunal Thakur), an aspiring actor in Delhi who performs with the Junoon theatre group, where she plays Juliet opposite Aniket Srivastava (Vikram Singh Chauhan). Aniket is deeply in love with Pooja, but she has repeatedly rejected his proposals. After a successful performance of Romeo and Juliet, Aniket publicly proposes to her, leaving Pooja stunned. She confronts him backstage and later ignores his calls. Devastated by her rejection, Aniket dies by suicide. The tragedy takes a disturbing turn when Jatin Trivedi (Vijay Raaz), a lawyer and self-proclaimed men’s rights activist, meets Aniket’s mother Alka (Suparna Marwah) and his friend Mukesh (Manuj Sharma). He urges them to take legal action against Pooja, with Mukesh alleging that she had led Aniket on and was responsible for his death. Alka approaches the police, leading to Pooja’s arrest. Her common friend Sana Mehfooz (Huma Qureshi) takes up her case as her lawyer. As Pooja faces intense social-media backlash and public condemnation, she must fight to defend herself both in court and in the court of public opinion.
