Samrat Prithviraj is a historical, period saga based on Prithviraj Raso, a Braj language epic poem and true events that narrate the life and times of the legendary Rajput King Prithviraj Chauhan (Akshay Kumar) who belonged to the Chahamana dynasty. The story also narrates the relationship he had with princess Sanmyukta (Manushi Chhillar) and how they got married. The narration also includes how the warrior king fought bravely against Muhammad Ghori, a ruler from the Ghurid dynasty who led the Islamic Conquest of Hindustan and how the former protected his motherland before sacrificing his life and going down as one of the greatest warrior emperors in Indian history.
