RK/RKAY is a quirky dark comedy drama about a seasoned director named RK (Rajat Kapoor) who is making his next film that is inspired by his 1960’s film in which he played the protagonist Mehboob. Midway he realizes that he is dissatisfied with the way he is making the film which is putting a noticeable strain on himself and his family. To get things together his crew suggests that he takes a break to collects his thoughts. RK gets a call from assistant director Namit (Chandrachoor Rai) saying that the protagonist Mehboob has disappeared from the rushes which they had shot earlier as no one knows how it happened. If RK doesn’t manage to find Mehboob, he is doomed and that’s when his young son Vivan (Abhishek Sharrma) reminds him that since he (RK) created the character and knows him better than anyone else, he needs to search and get him back. How does RK set out to search Mehboob, does he find him and complete his film?
