Safed is a story based in the city of Varanasi where Chaandi (Abhay Verma), a transgender meets a recently widowed Kaali (Meera Chopra) who is shunned by society and is trying to come to terms with their reality and bleak past. Chaandi refuses to get into the flesh trade on the behest of Guru Maa (Jameel Khan) while Kaali is forced by Radha (Barkha Bisht) to lead a colourless life with a group of older widows led by Amma (Chhaya Kadam). Chaandi and Kaali who feel incomplete from within and are drawn towards each other decide to become one. But will such an unconventional relationship be accepted?
