Sarkar Raj is a political crime drama and a sequel to the 2005 film Sarkar. The movie is set chronologically two years after its prequel. Anita Rajan (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan) is the CEO of Shepard Power Plant, who wants to set up a multibillion-dollar power plant in rural parts of Maharashtra. She approaches Subhash Nagre (Amitabh Bachchan), commonly known as Sarkar, to get his support. He initially opposes the idea as it might affect the livelihood of 40,000 people, but he is eventually convinced by his son Shankar (Abhishek Bachchan) for the project. However, things turn an ugly turn when the power plant project raises political issues and leads to many deaths.
