Sherdil: The Pilibhit Saga is a rural adventure drama inspired by true events. The story is set in the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve in U.P. near the Indo-Nepal border, where some poor farmers reside on the edge of the forest in a small village whose fortunes depend on the monsoons which unfortunately haven’t been good this year too. The sarpanch of the village, Gangaram (Pankaj Tripathi) along with other farmers follow the village’s infamous tiger practice which is getting elderly people killed by tigers and then later claiming lakhs of rupees as compensation from the Government. Doomed by poverty and hardships Gangaram decides to give up his life so that his family can have a good life from the money they’ll receive in compensation from the Government after his death. What follows next is a series of unprecedented and interesting events that focuses on the man & nature conflict.
