Tera Kya Hoga Lovely is a romantic comedy-drama set in the backdrop of Haryana where Jasmeet (Ileana D’Cruz), a dark-complexioned girl seeking a suitable match for marriage gets rejected by suitors, who prefer fair-skinned women. On top of it, the families of prospective groom’s demand dowry from Jasmeet’s family. Amid familial pressure and societal scrutiny, Jasmeet meets Lovely (Randeep Hooda), a police officer, who is given the task to recover stolen dowries. After a few interactions, Lovely falls for Jasmeet irrespective of her skin tone. However, complications arise when his family discovers his affection for a dark-skinned woman.
