The Lunchbox is a romantic drama that revolves around a young wife named Ila (Nimrat Kaur) who is seeking to get her husband’s attention and put the romance back into her marriage. She cooks delicious lunches for her husband and sends them through the famous Mumbai dabbawalas. However, an unlikely mistake of this tiffin carrier service results in Ila’s tiffin being delivered to Saajan Fernandes (Irrfan Khan), a widower who is about to retire from his job as an accountant. Ila eventually realizes the mistake and writes a letter to Saajan, informing him about the mix-up. Soon this exchange of messages develops an unusual friendship between the two.
