The Taj Story is a social drama that revolves around an Agra-based tourist guide named Vishnu Das (Paresh Rawal) who gets into a controversy when a documentary filmmaker poses a question to him about the provenance of Taj Mahal. The controversy turns his life upside down after a viral video of him questioning the Taj Mahal's origins leading to his dismissal from his job. Determined to fight back, he decides to challenge the official version of history in court by filing a petition questioning the historical proof that Shah Jahan built the Taj Mahal. He demands to know on what basis the monument’s story found its way into school textbooks and calls for an excavation to uncover what lies beneath the marble structure.
