Bharti Jaffrey was a television and movie actress who appeared in Bollywood films. She was the eldest daughter of legendary actor Ashok Kumar and related to the famous Ganguly family. She started her acting career late by making her debut in Govind Nihalani’s critically acclaimed 1998 movie Hazaar Chaurasi Ki Maa (1998) which was followed by Daman: A Victim of Marital Violence (2001) and Devi Ahilya Bai (2002). She was also known for playing the mother of actress Neena Gupta in the popular TV serial Saans. She was the mother of actress Anuradha Patel and the step-grandmother of actress Kiara Advani. She breathed her last on 20 September 2022 in Mumbai after a prolonged illness.
