Daman: A Victim of Marital Violence is a social drama film that portrays the conservative Indian cultural, where domestic violence and marital rape aren’t even a crime in the eyes of the society. The movie follows the story of a lower-caste girl from a poor family named Durga (Raveena Tandon), who is married to Sanjay (Sayaji Shinde), who is from an extremely wealthy family of Assam. Sanjay is hot-tempered, who didn’t want to marry Durga, but marries her because of the family pressure. From day one, Durga is subjected to physical and mental harm by him. Durga continues to be tortured by him, but finally speaks up when Sanjay decides to marry their 12-year-old daughter Deepa (Raima Sen) to a much older man. Will Durga be able to realise that enough is enough, and finally stand against his husband for the well-being of her daughter?
