Nipon Goswami was a well-known film, television, and theatre actor and director who primarily worked in Assamese as well as Bollywood film industry. After completing his schooling in Tezpur, Assam he joined the Pune Film Institute in 1965 and thereafter made his acting debut in Brij Sadanah’s action-drama Do Bhai (1969) starring Ashok Kumar, Jeetendra and Mala Sinha. Besides acting in Assamese films like Dr. Bezbaruah, Brishti, Aparupa, Protidaan, Siraj, Jonaki Mon, Gaane Ki Aane, he also starred in Bollywood films like Jaggu (1975), Do Anjaane (1976), Virodhi (1992), Daman (2001), etc. He died in Guwahati on 27 October 2022 at the age of 80 after battling age-related health issues.
