Vasanth Kumar Shivashankar Padukone, popularly known by his stage name Guru Dutt, was a legendary Indian film director, producer, actor and writer. He also made it to CNN's ‘Top 25 Asian Actors’ in 2012. He started his career in Bollywood as an assistant director and choreographer in the 1946 film Hum Ek Hain. He has acted and directed many hit movies like Baaz (1953), Aar Paar (1954), Mr. & Mrs. ’55 (1955), Pyaasa (1957), Kaagaz Ke Phool (1959) and many more. In 1953, he married Geeta Roy Chaudhary, a well-known playback singer of her time, and the couple had three children.
