Ghattamaneni Siva Rama Krishna Murthy, popularly known as Krishna, was an actor, director, producer and politician who was known for his works primarily in Telugu and Hindi cinema. Addressed as Superstar Krishna by the media and fans, he acted in over 350 films in his five-decade long career where he essayed all types of roles across different genres including mythological, drama, western, fantasy, action, spy and historical films. He started his film career with minor roles in Telugu films such as Kula Gothralu (1961), Padandi Mundhuku (1962), and Paruvu Prathishta (1963). He later went on to debut as a lead actor in Thene Manasulu (1965) and followed it up with hits like Sakshi (1967), Stree Janma (1967), Niluvu Dopidi (1968), Manchi Kutumbam (1968), Vichithra Kutumbam (1969), Akka Chellellu (1970). He established his own production banner, Padmalaya Films under which he produced several big-budget films such as Agni Pariksha (1970), Mosagallaku Mosagadu (1971), Pandanti Kapuram (1972), Devudu Chesina Manushulu (1973), Alluri Seetharama Raju (1974). Most of his Telugu hits were remade in Hindi under his production banner like Takkar, Himmatwala, Justice Chaudhury, Mawaali, Hoshiyar, Pataal Bhairavi, Singhasan, Mulzim, etc. The only Hindi film that he directed was Singhasan (1986) starring Jeetendra, Jaya Prada & Mandakini. He died on 15 November 2022 due to cardiac arrest ay Hyderabad.
