Yaragudipadi Venkata Mahalakshmi, professionally known as Lakshmi, is an Indian actress. She has worked in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi films. She established herself as a successful and popular South Indian actress in the 1970s. She started her Bollywood career with K. S. Sethumadhavan’s romantic drama Julie (1975) which earned her Filmfare Best Actress Award. She then appeared in movies like Jeevan Mukt (1977), Aangan Ki Kali (1979), Kahani Ek Chor Ki (1981), Dhuaan (1981), and Hulchul (2004). She married thrice. In 1969, she married Bhaskar who worked in an insurance organization and they have a daughter, actress Aishwarya, the couple later divorced in 1974. Her second marriage was to her co-star Mohan Sharma but they separated within five years of marriage, she finally married actor-director M. Shivachandran and the couple adopted a girl.
