Rakesh Kumar was an actor, writer, producer and director who predominantly worked in Bollywood. Rakesh Kumar started his Bollywood career by assisting directors K.B. Lal, Chand and Prakash Mehra before marking his directorial debut with the Amitabh Bachchan starrer Khoon Pasina in 1977. He later went on to directed popular movies like Mr. Natwarlal, Do Aur Do Paanch, Yaarana and Suryavanshi. He also produced films like Commander, Kaun Jeeta Kaun Haara and Dil Tujhko Diya. He passed away in Mumbai on 10 November 2022 after battling cancer at the age of 81.
