Soumendu Roy was a veteran cinematographer who contributed to Hindi as well as Bengali films. He was mostly known for working on director Satyajit Ray's films including Teen Kanya (1961), Ashani Sanket (1973) and Aranyer Din Ratri (1969). Some of his notable works in Bollywood were Saranga, Shatranj Ke Khilari, Badrinath Yatra, Anokha Moti, Ek Doctor Ki Maut, etc. He breathed his last on 27 September 2023.
