36 China Town is a mystery comedy-drama and an official adaption of the 1992 American film Once Upon a Crime which again was a remake of the 1960 Italian film Crimen. The movie revolves around Raj (Shahid Kapoor), a struggling actor, and Priya (Kareena Kapoor), who run away from their respective homes to pursue their dreams and bump into each other on a bus journey. They both find a child who goes missing and later get to know that the child belongs to Sonia Chang (Isha Koppikar), a multimillionaire casino owner who has been murdered. Inspector Karan (Akshaye Khanna), the investigating officer, is handed over the case. However, the case keeps on getting more complicated when Karan discovers several suspects for the murder and none of them has any proof of their whereabouts to prove their innocence.
