Aap Jaisa Koi is an urban romantic drama that revolves around a 42-year-old bachelor, Shrirenu Tripathy aka Shri (R. Madhavan), who is a teacher of Sanskrit in a local school in Jamshedpur. Shri believes that he’s bearing the brunt of a curse inflicted on him years ago by his schoolmate Rakhi, who said he would never get married for refusing her proposal. One day, a prospective match in the form of Madhu Bose (Fatima Sana Shaikh), a French teacher at a language institute from Kolkata, makes him travel to Kolkata. Shri, despite being shy and reserved, likes Madhu as they realise that they do have a lot in common. Within a few weeks, their marriage gets fixed, but a strange event on the day of their engagement takes place, which breaks all hell loose as the marriage is called off. What happens next forms the remaining part of the plot.
