Agni Varsha is an epic mythological drama. The movie is the dense dramatization of the portion of ‘Mahabharata’ set in the kingdom stricken with drought for many years. Two rival priests Yavakri (Nagarjuna) and Paravasu (Jackie Shroff), try to please the rain god Indra with the ‘yajna’ ceremony. Paravasu’s father, Devraj (Amitabh Bachchan), suspects Vishakha (Raveena Tandon), Parvasu’s wife, of having an affair with Yavakri. She is then caught by Aravasu (Milind Soman), Parvasu’s brother, making love with Yavakri. This further leads to treachery and bloodshed. Despite everything, ‘yajna’ ceremony continues. However, will they finally be able to please the god of rains?
