Assi follows the story of Parima (Kani Kusruti), a schoolteacher living a quiet life with her husband Vinay (Mohd Zeeshan Aayub) and their young son, Dhruv (Advik Jaiswal). One night, after attending a colleague’s retirement party at her school, Parima takes the metro home. As she steps out of the station, she is abducted by a group of men and subjected to a brutal assault over the next two hours before being left grievously injured near a railway track. The attackers erase all traces of the crime and disappear. Parima is found the next morning and rushed to the hospital, where the police begin their investigation. With the help of Raavi (Taapsee Pannu), a determined lawyer and a friend of Vinay’s colleague Kartik (Kumud Mishra), the case moves swiftly to court and the accused are arrested. But as the trial unfolds, Parima discovers that justice is far from straightforward. The accused present an alibi, key evidence fails to hold, and crucial identification and forensic tests turn inconclusive, leading to their release on bail. What follows is Parima’s harrowing fight against a system that seems stacked against her.
