The recipient of numerous awards including three National Film Awards and three Filmfare Awards, Naseeruddin Shah was honoured with the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan for his contributions to Indian cinema by the Government of India. An actor and director, Naseer started his acting career with Shyam Benegal’s Hindi drama Nishant (1975). Other important movies of his career are Junoon (1978), Sparsh (1980), Mandi (1983), Masoom (1983), Paar (1984), Mohra (1994), Chaahat (1996), Sarfarosh (1999), Iqbal (2005), A Wednesday! (2008) and The Dirty Picture (2011). In 1982, he married actress Ratna Pathak and the couple has two sons, actors Imaad and Vivaan Shah.
