Mohan Joshi Hazir Ho! is a social drama. The movie revolves around an old couple - Mohan Joshi (Bhisham Sahni) and his wife (Dina Pathak), who decide to sue their evil landlord (Amjad Khan) due to the deteriorating condition of their building. They hire two lawyers (Satish Shah and Naseeruddin Shah) to fight their case. The case goes on for years, while the couple face humiliation from their neighbours for suing the landlord, and their lawyers enjoy the money taken from them, while they put zero effort. The judge decides to go to the chawl where the couple lives to see the truth for himself. Will the truth finally come out? Will Mohan Joshi and his wife finally get justice?
