Son of actor Jayant, Amjad Khan was an actor and director who made his screen debut as a child actor in Nazneen (1951) and Ab Dilli Dur Nahin (1957). He made his debut as an adult in Hindustan Ki Kasam (1973) and Ramesh Sippy’s 1975 blockbuster Sholay where he played the role of Gabbar Singh. His other memorable roles have been in Inkaar, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar, Des Pardes, Dada, Qurbani, Satte Pe Satta, Himmatwala, Chameli Ki Shaadi, etc. He also directed films like Adhura Aadmi, Chor Police and Ameer Aadmi Ghareeb Aadmi. His brother is actor-director Imtiaz Khan while his son Shadaab Khan too is an actor.
