Rudaali is a social drama. The movie follows the story of a woman named Shanichari (Dimple Kapadia), who’s father dies soon after her birth and her mother abandons her. She marries a man named Ganju and has a son named Budhwa. Shanichari’s life is filled with tragedies. Her ailing mother-in-law passes away, her husband dies, her son runs away, but Shanichari finds it difficult to cry everytime, it is like her eyes are always dry. Then she meets Bhikni (Rakhee), who is a rudaali ‘a professional weeper’. When Bhikni is called to a neighboring village when a rich man passes away, Shanichari has to fill her place in one of the funerals in her village. There she learns the news that finally brings tears to her eyes.
