Love And God is a period romantic drama, which takes its inspiration from the tragic love story of Laila-Majnu. The movie follows the story of two childhood sweethearts - Laila (Nimmi) and Kais aka Majnu (Sanjeev Kumar). Growing up, the two become lovers, however, their fathers are sworn enemies, thus, the two are separated. This leaves Kais insane, who becomes a beggar and wanders to find his lover, when he finally meets Laila, their love rekindles. He considers his love over God, which makes people assume him to be mad, and they throw stones at him, but he survives. Later, Laila’s marriage is arranged with Shehzada Ibn-e-Salaam (Pran), who offers a huge sum of money to Laila’s family. Will Laila be married off to Shehzada or will the true lovers finally reunite?
