Muhafiz – In Custody is a social drama. The movie follows the story of a Hindi lecturer Deven (Om Puri), who works in a local college to earn a living. However, his first love is Urdu, not Hindi, and he is obsessed with an Urdu poet, Nur (Shashi Kapoor), who is known for expressing the mix of modernization and tradition with his poems. The poet is ailing and alcoholic, and it is Deven’s dream to capture and document the lasts of the poet.
